A restaurant named after a light in the water

La Medusa sits on Avenida La Habana in Los Cristianos, across from Playa de las Vistas. Montaña de Guaza rises to the east, and the ferries to La Gomera leave from the harbour along the promenade.

Medusa is Spanish for jellyfish. Out in the Atlantic some of them glow when the water moves. We liked the idea of a place that comes into its own after dark: candles on the tables, a cocktail in hand, the sea a few steps away.

The kitchen is Mediterranean with the sea at the centre: fish and shellfish, grilled meat, pizza and pasta. The bar runs the same hours as the kitchen, so a table for a spritz can turn into dinner without anyone moving.
